My TOP everyday makeup picks for oily skin

If you have mixed or oily skin, you might understand that finding products that REALLY clean your face and finding for makeup that actually STAYS on your face by the end of the day is harder than finding Dory. With a lot of trial and error, years of having tons of black heads in my face (I still do a little bit, specially around my period days! but much much much less now!) and not knowing how to control them, I can finally say I feel happy with my daily routine to stay pretty every day :D. Here are my top picks in order of use:

Step 1:

First thing’s first: You HAVE to wash your face! For this I HIGHLY recommend EFFACLAR GEL MOUSSANT  by La Roche-Posay.

I have to say this is the BEST face soap I’ve ever tried in my life. I’ve tried different kinds, supposedly very good ones (yes, even Neutrogena), but none of them have cleaned my face as much as this one does. I gotta thank my sister for this one (shout out to Mommy Abroad! If you are a new mommy you HAVE to check out her blog!). She swore by this face soap when she saw my multiple failed attempts to clean my face, and I skeptically accepted to try it out, and now I love it!

Since Florida has such a humid weather I just used this every morning before putting my makeup on and every night before going to bed. In Peru, I did have the need to wear a moisturizing cream because it dried out my skin if I didn’t, causing some redness. I don’t have a specific cream I like, so I’m not going to recommend one this time.

NOTE: This product might seem a little expensive but a little goes a LONG way, you don’t need to use a lot of product for it to work. I have the same bottle (the 400ml one) for almost a year, and by the beginning of the year I actually SHARED it with my sister.

Step 2:

Next, I put some primer on my T-zone, and wherever I know it usually gets oily. Primers help cover your pores up. I used to think primer was not good for our face because it wouldn’t let our skin «breath», but that’s actually just a myth, our face doesn’t need to breath so don’t worry about it. This is a very important step because the whole reason our face is so oily and we get blackheads is because oily skin usually means big pores, so if we «clog» them up we help preventing the oiliness from happening and our pores from being filled with all of the dirty stuff in the environment which produces black heads later on.

I’m This is the best primer I’ve tried so far. The texture is so so smooth and it lasts very very long. It is in the expensive side but if you can afford it I highly recommend it. This is a less expensive drugstore version I use for a daily basis. It’s not as good as the Clarins one but it does a decent job. It’s the one I use now.

Step 3:

Next, if I really want to seem more awake I put some concealer (no brand in particular yet) and to cover my face up I have two alternatives:

BB cream 5-in-1 Miracle Skin Perfector by Garnier

Shine Control Compact Powder by Asepxia

I love BB cream because it’s not as thick as foundation, and not as light as simple compact powder. It covers up nicely, the texture is actually a little more liquid but it then dries out in your face. You can either use a little of it or a more generous amount depending on the coverage you are looking for. I’m actually using this in a daily basis since my face started clearing out and I didn’t feel I needed much coverage anymore. I like the whole «natural» look as everyday make up, that’s why I prefer just using powder now instead of BB cream. I still use BB cream for special occasions like going out and stuff.

After this I just do a slight contouring with a bronzer (I use a Sephora bronzer powder) and a little blush (no particular favourite pick for this one).

Step 4:

Eyebrows and eyelashes. This is a tip that I consider very very important! If you have oily skin, regular makeup simply fades away so easily and by the end of the day you end up with no eyebrows at all (I’m exaggerating, but still!) and with black make up stains under your eyes. It just happens and it sucks! So for this I recommend something that might be like a no-brainer for you, but when I thought of this idea I just had this aha moment and this has been a life changer for me! Are you ready for it? Here it comes…

Use

Waterproof

Make up!

*Minds blown*

For eyebrows I use the Eyebrow Gel by NYX. This is the best eyebrow product I’ve used so far. It’s waterproof and smudge nyxeyebrowgelsproof, although I avoid touching my eyebrows because of my oily skin still. But if you touch it by accident, it’s really not a big deal. I’ve gone to the beach and the pool with it, got in the water and it really does what it says. It’s not expensive and a little goes a long way too. I have the same one for already 5 months and it still has like one third of product left. Just let a little tiny bit of it out and draw your eyebrows with an angled brush. It takes a little practice but, if you get the hang of it, it makes them look super nice as well.

Finally, eyelashes. I use Volum’ Express PUMPED UP! Colossal waterproof mascara by Maybelline. Water0aa90188-0f60-48a1-98e0-75c6637b5e01_1-e0ae5d367994f37bc85de5015cfeeb10proof mascaras tend to not have the lengthening and volumizing effect that non-waterproof mascaras do. But THIS one is every bit as good -or even better- as many regular ones out there. It adds a LOT of volume and length, it’s so so so good. Even if you think you have no eyelashes at all, if you use this one you’ll be amazed. Trust me. AND it’s waterproof! So It wont be staining under your eyes or anything by the end of the day. Bonus: you can use it for the beach and the pool as well. Yay!

Anyways! That is all I have to share for now. I really hope you enjoyed reading this (I know I wrote a lot!) and that you give this products a try. I have no kind of sponsorship AT ALL since I just started this blog, so they are products I really really recommend :).
